The Garlic Braid

There's a certain type of kitchen that I love.

From Laughingdogsfarm.com

It's a cook's kitchen, a gardener's kitchen through in love bohemian love and there you have it.

This wonderful kitchen featured in ElleDecor is a dream!

Last Autumn the Ro's and I planted garlic in our very newly dug veggie garden. Then we mostly ignored it, but after many months, I'd say late June, we pulled up the bulbs by the papery white scapes. I then proceeded to create the most coveted accessory for the cook's/ gardener's kitchen- braided garlic. As I mentioned we largely ignored the crop throughout the Winter and the we just did not have all that much fruit for our efforts, but all and all it was a lovely experiment and one I plan on doing again.

Here's my garlic braid hanging with some Mississippi Sweet Potatoes!

Let's Get Funky!

I love funky music, people, clothes, houses and gardens!

Here's a quick pic I snapped while driving through Cabbage Town, prob the funkiest area of the great city of Atlanta, after dropping the lil Ro off at pre-school.

I love the resourcefulness of this gardener! Those are some funky black plastic garden boxes!

Happy trails...

Promises of Spring

If you survive the attack of the The Killer Pollen, Spring in Atlanta makes good on promises of heaven on Earth. First the red buds and crocus pop out as a welcome surprise... then the dogwoods and azaleas and all the rest with a grand finish in June with the large globes of hydrangeas in the shade. The birds and bees chirping in nest and the bees buzzing from flower to hive. I feel the the need to skip through the meadow.

I found this next and bee next to one another in our courtyard garden. It looks like a red robin's nest to me.

Holiday

We spent Christmas at The Forgotten Coast this year. I'm not a big fan of Christmas at the beach, but this year it was nice just to get out of town. My mother lives in Port St. Joe, Florida and it was great being in her little retro old Florida home. She's very much in to collecting and has several collections... too many to list. Here's a wreath I made for her several years ago for Christmas. Her house is salmon pink, thus the color theme. It looked really cute on her door.

A Little Ad Work

Here's a fun ad I created for the carpet store to run in our little local news flyer. I rather like it!

The Only Perfect View

I love the bit from the movie A Room With A View, one of my all time favorite movies.
George Emerson: My father says there is only one perfect view, and that's the view of the sky over our heads.
Cecil Vyse: I expect your father has been reading Dante.
 Hahaha especially Cecil's comment.

Here's a view I snapped while walking to work one day.PDK is across from the carpet store. The airport transports me to a retro world... when I'm there I feel like I could be in a 1960's sitcom.
